Together for Schools is our call to the greater San Francisco community—businesses, residents, and community leaders—to stand together for SFUSD students. Your unrestricted gift helps strengthen the public schools that thousands of San Francisco families count on every day, giving Spark the flexibility to support SFUSD's highest-priority needs and opportunities so every student can learn, thrive, and reach their full potential.
The African American Achievement & Leadership Initiative (AAALI) is SFUSD's districtwide initiative dedicated to advancing the achievement, leadership, and success of African American students. Over the last 10 years, the Spark community has channeled close to $2 million to support this work. Your support helps expand Each and Every by Name, which boosted African American and Pacific Islander kindergarten literacy proficiency from 39% to 53% in a single school year; sustains Mastering Cultural Identity courses across 12 high schools; powers Black Star Rising STEM programming for middle schoolers; and strengthens family and student voice through the African American Parent Advisory Council and Black Student Unions at 15 school sites.
Mission Bay Hub, SFUSD’s Life Science Immersion Campus, is a state-of-the-art learning hub connecting high school students to San Francisco’s world-leading health, life sciences, and STEM sectors. With its new “forever home” at Mission Bay Elementary in 2026, the 11,149-square-foot facility occupies the fourth floor of SFUSD’s new Mission Bay Elementary School and provides students with hands-on learning, industry exposure, and pathways to future education and careers in health, life sciences, and other STEM-aligned fields.

Ready, Set, Read! is a three-year, $5 million campaign dedicated to dramatically improving third-grade literacy proficiency across SFUSD. With community and philanthropic support, we are strengthening SFUSD’s ambitious efforts to transform its literacy instructional systems, improve how it teaches every child to read and write, to ultimately drive dramatically higher literacy proficiency for all students.

SFUSD's College & Career Readiness initiatives prepare students for what comes after graduation—whether that means college, a career, or both. Through career and technical education, dual enrollment, college access, paid internships, work-based learning, and emerging apprenticeship pathways, SFUSD connects classroom learning to real-world opportunities and gives students the experiences, skills, and connections to build their futures.

Each and Every by Name is an SFUSD initiative focused on ensuring that every Black and Pacific Islander kindergarten student develops strong early literacy skills and is on track to read proficiently by third grade. Born out of SFUSD's African American Achievement & Leadership Initiative, the approach brings teachers, school leaders, families, and central staff together around each individual student—using personalized data, family engagement, culturally affirming practices, and coordinated wraparound support to help every child succeed.
