Spark SF Public Schools is the official public foundation for the San Francisco Unified School District, mobilizing philanthropic and community investment in San Francisco’s public education system to ensure every SFUSD student has access to an excellent education.
Spark leverages philanthropic support to pilot new ventures, propel promising ideas, and scale proven practices across the district. Our work exemplifies the durable impact and collective power of public private partnerships.
Strong public schools make a strong San Francisco — and that starts with your support.
The need has never been greater. The time to act is now.
Every day, over 50,000 SFUSD students show up at school, ready to learn and grow. But as federal education funding faces deep cuts, SNAP benefits are reduced, and critical support systems for vulnerable families are being dismantled, the safety net our students depend on is disappearing.
Your donation to Spark allows us to direct resources where students need them most, when they need them most.
Students still need nutritious meals, mental health services, inspiring literacy instruction, and pathways to bright futures.
Your support ensures that San Francisco's children don't pay the price for federal policy decisions beyond their control.
Your donation to Spark SF Public Schools can be directed to support any and all of our key initiatives:
Together for Schools is our call-to-action to the greater San Francisco community - businesses, residents, community leaders - to stand together for students. When you give to Together for Schools, you’re helping strengthen the one place thousands of San Francisco families can count on—our public schools—so that every child feels nourished, cared for, and ready to learn.

Over the last 10 years, the Spark community has collectively channeled close to $2 million to support AAALI’s work. The impact is immeasurable. Your support helps expand Each and Every by Name, boosting African American and Pacific Islander kindergarten literacy proficiency from 32% to 52% in a single school year. It sustains Mastering Cultural Identity courses across 12 high schools, powers Black Star Rising STEM programming for middle schoolers, and strengthens family voice through the African American Parent Advisory Council and Black Student Unions at 15 school sites.

As part of San Francisco Unified School District’s new Mission Bay Elementary School—located at 6th Street, between Nelson Rising Lane and Mission Bay Boulevard South—we are building the SFUSD Mission Bay Hub, a groundbreaking investment in our city’s future.
In 2026, we opened a new 11,149-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility and program on the school’s fourth floor, designed to inspire and prepare high school students for careers in health, life sciences, and other STEM-aligned fields.

Ready, Set, Read! is a three-year, $5 million campaign dedicated to dramatically improving third-grade literacy proficiency across SFUSD. With community and philanthropic support, we are strengthening SFUSD’s ambitious efforts to transform its literacy instructional systems, improve how it teaches every child to read and write, to ultimately drive dramatically higher literacy proficiency for all students.
