The John Muir Family Room: An Essential Resource for Students and their Families.
In partnership with Jefferson Elementary, we are hoping to raise $15,000 during this 2024-25 school year to fund a few big ticket items.
We would love to purchase a new stand freezer to achieve our goal of starting a small food pantry for families next year. We have access to a program that will supply meat and other food but we need the freezer in order to partner with them.
We would also like to help fund our interventionists, specifically some High Impact Tutoring. This helps the most high impact kids. The district will fund some of this but our school has to fill in the rest.
John Muir Elementary School continues to have one of the highest populations of students experiencing homelessness in SFUSD. Additionally, we are experiencing a deep need for additional support to help our homeless and at-risk and newcomer families navigate the social systems, so that they can find stable housing, jobs, and purchase basic needs for their families.
We are so lucky to have a family room at Muir where families can cook food, wash their clothes, and rest during the day. This room is routinely stocked with essentials such as laundry detergent, cooking supplies, utensils and toiletries. We truly appreciate any support you can offer!
With deep gratitude,
The John Muir School Community
